The 6 Etsy Listing photos that sell!

the 6 Types of Listing Images You NEED to include to convert shoppers into buyers and favorites into sales!

So, you’re wondering how to make your digital products sell on Etsy?

Well, you found the perfect blog post to help you do just that!

You see, it’s not enough to just have an awesome product… Shoppers need to trust it’s awesome too!

How do we make sure of this?

It’s all in how we describe our product and how we showcase it’s value.

Which means the information and the graphics we use in our listing photos matter, big time!

I’ve made over $500K selling digital products over the past 3 years and here are the 6 types of listing photos I suggest you include and that I’ve personally included in my own digital product listing photos on Etsy to help them sell…

The 6 TYPES of Listing Photos to include:

TYPE 1: Biggest Desire Minus (-) Sacrifice

TYPE 2: Features + Benefits

TYPE 3: Differentiation

TYPE 4: Certainty

TYPE 5: Clarification

TYPE 6: Humanization

Let’s get into each one with examples!

TYPE 1

BIGGEST DESIRE Minus (-) Sacrifice

Recommended Positioning: After your main photo and listing video, this should be the first “real” listing photo.

Right out the gate we want shoppers to understand the biggest benefit of our product (how your product will help them get what they desire most) and how it helps them achieve it without the thing they fear they’ll need to sacrifice.

This works because it answers the single most important question they have on their mind…

"How can this help me?"

Once they are excited about the possibility of your offer, anything that comes after will only increase their probability of choosing your offer over your competitors.

EXAMPLE:

On my shop I sell a Listing Video Templates for Canva Template Sellers.

You see that I call out their BIGGEST desire which is… “more sales”.

And without my solution, their greatest sacrifice would be “time”.

So, I highlight that with my product, it only takes minutes.

Take a look at the example below:

TYPE 2

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Consumer psychology says that people buy because of emotion and back it up with logic...

So, you need to highlight BOTH in your listing photos to have the best chance of converting visits into sales.

FEATURES

speak to LOGIC

Features = everything your offer has, does, is, or includes.

BENEFITS

speak to EMOTIONS

Benefits explains why they need your offer and how it will improve their life.

Note: This type of listing photo can take up 1 to 4 listing photo slots depending on your offer.

EXAMPLES:

There are countless ways to showcase the features and benefits of your offer, but below are some examples of different ways you can do this:

Way 1: Separate features & benefits into 2 listing photos

From Etsy Shop: LoveLissy

Way 2: Show the feature & explain it’s benefit

From Etsy Shop: BadassTemplates

Way 3: List Feature, Show Feature, List Benefit, Show Benefit

We have a bunch of amazing options in our Etsy Listing Template Pack if you’re interested. Here are a couple of examples that are included in the 40 templates:

Again, there are many ways to do this, these are just some examples.

Experiment and find what works best for you!

TYPE 3

Differentiation

Establishing your Unique Value Proposition (UVP) sets you apart from competitors because it helps shoppers see how you’re different and better.

Here are some things to ask yourself when it comes to developing your UVP:

  • How is your product different?

  • Is it best suited for a more specific audience?

  • Does it have a helpful feature that competitors don’t have?

  • Do you have X years of experience in this industry?

  • Does your product offer a proven method that gets results?

Take a look at this example for my Etsy Listing Video Template for Canva Sellers:

This type of listing photo is amazing, but it’s optional especially when you’re first starting out.

Your UVP can be developed overtime as you learn more about your target audience and their desires.

Then you can add this type of listing photo in once your UVP is more established.

TYPE 4

CERTAINTY

Humans like certainty!

And there are certain listing photos we can include to help “close the loop” in our potential customers minds so they feel more confident about purchasing from us!

See the below of examples:

  • Product Demonstrations

  • How Purchasing/Access Works

TYPE 5

ClariFICATION

This is all about reducing the friction to buy.

A confused mind doesn’t buy.

Here are some ways you can do this:

TYPE 6

Personal Touch

People come to Etsy to buy something from small businesses, from HUMANS (and not large corporations). Lean into that!

Here’s how I do it:

By the way, you don’t need to use a picture of yourself, but you could if you wanted to!

This just makes it a little more personal and helps you to differentiate your shop/listings from the rest.

Which was your favorite listing type?

Which part of this blog post did you find the most helpful?
